Rehburg-Loccumer Butterkuchen

Bäckerei Wulf Rehburg-Loccum

Bäckerei Wulf, the artisan bakery in Rehburg, bakes the Rehburg-Loccumer Butterkuchen®, a butter cake whose origins lie in Kloster Loccum (Loccum Abbey): a light, airy classic with butter-filled dimples and a dash of cream in the dough, baked by hand to the bakery's own recipe.

About the product

What sets this product apart

Butter-filled dimples and a dash of cream round off the buttery dough, baked in an artisan bakery with ingredients of regional origin. The cake is light and airy, tastes moist and mild. The sweetness stays in balance, nothing masks the delicate buttery note: not oversweet, no almond taking over, just butter you can taste. A Butterkuchen needs nothing more.

The Butterkuchen comes from Kloster Loccum, where to this day it is part of the annual New Year reception, the Epiphany reception. When the artisan baker in the village of Loccum retired, the small Bäckerei Wulf in Rehburg took the cake on; since 2012 it has carried the protected name Rehburg-Loccumer Butterkuchen®. Today Lena Wulf runs the business, and the Butterkuchen has long since travelled well beyond the borders of the municipality.
